We aim to minimise transport distances by sourcing products locally, within the UK and Europe.
We try to buy fairly traded goods, organic where applicable.
We try to source high-quality products that will give a long service life reducing the number of replacements that will be necessary, particularly where those items use a lot of energy in their manufacture or produce pollution or are hard to dispose of at the end of their life.
As an example of 'best practice' we decided to source RoHS-compliant (Register of Hazardous Substances) electronic components for the repair of devices, ahead of the mandatory requirement.
